AllRightsReserved has tagged Brian Calvin for its newest MEET PROJECT installment.

Plant Life marks the influential American artist’s first-ever limited-edition bronze sculpture, with the piece arriving as a blue and white vase with cartoonishly large eyes and slightly parted eyes growing from a stem. Calvin continues to embrace abstraction with close-up treatments of subjects and luminous colors — a system that’s steeped in his roots and dominates the works in this collaboration.

“Art reflects the time in which it is made, either directly or indirectly. I like the challenge of constructing a unique figure or a person,” he explained in a statement. “Often just started with an eye or a mouth without thinking about the gender, I would agree that my works seem to be more feminine. I like the idea of creating a home collectible like a plant, yet it is also something else.”

Plant Life will be available in a signed and numbered limited edition of 40, priced at $2,500 USD each. The AllRightsReserved “MEET Brian Calvin PROJECT” piece is available for a global raffle on the DDT webstore.

Elsewhere in art, Beeple’s NFT artwork fetched $69.3 million USD at auction.
