'The Muppet Show' Receives Disclaimer on Disney+ for "Offensive Content"
“This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures.”

After adding disclaimers to its classic films, Disney+ has now given The Muppet Show a disclaimer for “offensive content.”
The statement now appears before certain episodes noting, “This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now.” Like the disclaimers added to its classic films, Disney+ offers a rationale for its decision. “Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together.”
According to reports, the disclaimer was added to 18 episodes found throughout five seasons of The Muppet Show. Aside from performance by Johnny Cash in front of a Confederate flag, other problematic scenes include portrayals of Native American, Middle Eastern and Asian people.
