The Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially bringing back one of its biggest surprise hits. Following a widely praised debut earlier this year, Marvel Television and Disney+ have announced that the meta-comedy series Wonder Man has been greenlit for Season 2. Serving as a grounded, satirical peek behind the curtain of Hollywood and the superhero genre itself, the show has quickly become a fan favorite, securing a rare multi-season run in an era where Marvel has actively scaled back and restructured its streaming output.
Breaking the mold of traditional MCU fatigue, the first season of Wonder Man debuted in January 2026 under the standalone “Marvel Spotlight” banner. The eight-episode run followed aspiring, super-powered actor Simon Williams and washed-up thespian Trevor Slattery as they doggedly pursued career-changing roles in a fictional superhero film reboot. The show’s fresh, comedic approach resonated heavily with audiences and critics alike, bypassing heavy multiverse lore to earn a stellar 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans can expect the core creative team to remain completely intact for the upcoming installment. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will reprise his lead role as Simon Williams, alongside legendary actor Sir Ben Kingsley as the fan-favorite Trevor Slattery. Behind the camera, series co-creators Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest are officially returning to helm the project, serving as director/executive producer and showrunner, respectively.
The renewal places Wonder Man in an incredibly exclusive club. It is now only the third live-action Marvel series on Disney+ to earn a second season, following in the footsteps of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and the highly anticipated Daredevil: Born Again. While exact plot details remain tightly under wraps, Season 2 is expected to pick up directly after the chaotic cliffhanger of Season 1, which left the unlikely acting duo on the run from the Department of Damage Control.
While a release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced, the entire first season of Wonder Man is currently available to stream exclusively on Disney+.
