Bianca Saunders Superimposes Creased Denim Onto Wrangler Pieces for FW21
The second collaboration between the two.
After a first collaboration presented back in September, London-based designer Bianca Saunders has unveiled a second project with Wrangler. The new release mixes key features from both brands, as Saunders’ approach to twisting menswear staples appears across Wrangler denim pieces.
The collaboration with Wrangler was presented as part of Saunders’ “Superimposed” Fall/Winter 2021 collection, which the designer explained “started from sculptures I exhibited in Paris last autumn, and has drawn inspiration from the multidisciplinary artist Jean Cocteau.” In the collection, Saunders has printed Wrangler items with blown-up images of creased jeans, with this effect used on jeans, a tailored jacket and corduroy trousers.
Speaking about the collaboration, Saunders explained its influences: “Transforming traditional menswear pieces really has become a part of the my brands core identity and that’s what I try to bring to my Wrangler collabs. I love to tap into that Americana style that Wrangler is well known for but bring it into my universe by pushing the boundaries and bending the rules, the result is something unique that no Wrangler customer will have seen before.”
“This time I experimented with new techniques like sublimation printing, which essentially meant I could create a surreal illusion – first creating a print from images of scrunched up denim, then printing that image on to denim. This season was all about Superimposing, replacing one thing so that both things are evident.”
