Nicolas Cage Stars as Himself in Comical 'The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent' Teaser
Hitting theaters on April 22.
Lionsgate on Tuesday shared the official trailer for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, an upcoming film starring Nicolas Cage as a fictionalized version of himself.
The movie centers on a heavily-indebted Cage who agrees to attend the birthday celebration of a rich megafan (Pedro Pascal of The Mandalorian and Narcos) for $1 million USD, only to be recruited by a CIA operative (Tiffany Haddish) to execute a mission.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which was directed by Tom Gormican, also stars Sharon Horgan, Lily Sheen, Jacob Scipio, Ike Barinholtz, Neil Patrick Harris and Paco León.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly earlier this week, Cage said that his fictional character is “feeling unfulfilled and contending with the rejection that can happen so often in the small town that is Hollywood.”
“I wasn’t too excited about the idea of playing myself, but when Tom sent me this script, Nicky reminded me a little of Jerry Lewis’ Buddy Love in ‘The Nutty Professor,’” he added. “I always admired what he did with that movie. For me, Nicky steals the show.”
