Swiss watchmaker Purnell has signed a three year partnership with Ballon D’Or – the football prize by France Football that honors the best performing player of the year. In a first for the ceremony, the two winners were awarded with an exclusive one of a kind watch designed and crafted by the Maison specially for the gala event.
Famous for its expertise in Tourbillon manufacturing, Purnell’s debut Ballon D’Or timepiece is modelled around it’s Escape II watch, incorporating a Tourbillon encased in a rotating football. Fine details including a hemispherical cabochon crown and a “France Football” hallmark, developed by the Maison’s master-watchmaker Eric Coudray, also reference the sport and renowned award. The timepiece is finished with a rose gold frame which comes hand-polished and engraved with the winner’s name.
The watch was presented to the winners of the Ballon D’Or award during the ceremony at Théâtre du Châtelet Paris on November 29.
