Danysz Gallery is currently showcasing a hypnotic exhibition by Felipe Pantone and Pablo Limón in its Paris location. To add to the list, the gallery’s Shanghai outpost has unveiled a new solo show by Czech visual artist, Jan Kaláb.

An early pioneer of Czech graffiti art, Kaláb used to go by the name Cakes, as he made his mark on the European scene in the early 1990s. The artist has since transformed his aesthetic into a thee-dimensional study — where Kaláb tinkers with fluid and amorphous forms that reference both his own personal history and a fascination with the infinite.

In “Harmony & Soul,” Kaláb presents unique and never-before-seen paintings inspired by Chinese culture, history, and religion. “I could not live without colors,” the artist said in a statement. Kaláb’s palette draws on the color schemes found in nature, but whose abstracted forms live somewhere within the mind.

Having stretched his own work since 2013, the artist has always been interested in freeing art from the angles of a traditional canvas. Check out “Harmony & Soul” in its entirety until January 15.
