With crate motors gaining more popularity within the automotive industry, Ford is now showing off its flexibility yet again over at the SEMA Show by crafting an F-100 electric restomod.

After teaming up with MLe Racecars for the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, Ford has now reunited with MLe Racecars for the latest project, essentially stripping the 1978 F-100 pickup almost entirely. Powering the vintage truck is now the American automaker’s Mach-E GT Performance Edition front and rear motors, creating an all-wheel-drive that can deliver a staggering 480 horsepower and 634 pound-feet of torque, although no details have been revealed about what kind of battery it runs on.

Sheer power aside, the F-100 also received a range of other bespoke enhancements and upgrades. The chassis was custom-built by Roadster Shop to accommodate the new setup, lowering the ride height to complement the 19-inch wheels carrying dog-dish wheel caps. Its entire body has been painted in a retro white tone highlighted by cooper accents that take the place of its original chrome and stainless steel finishes. As for the interior, the truck now boasts a custom billet dashboard with instrument panels and infotainment systems drawn from the Mustang Mach-E itself, as well as a new steering wheel from Ford and special black-on-brown leather upholstery.

While the F-100 restomod itself is not for sale, it’s possible to build your own — or something similar — using Ford’s 281-horsepower crate motor, which is currently going for around $3,900 USD. You’ll have to source your own parts for the rest of the modifications, but Ford Performance says it’ll be offering those items in the near future as well.

Elsewhere at the SEMA Show, Dodge unveiled its “Holy Guacamole” Challenger concept.
