NBA Star Kawhi Leonard’s Debut ‘Culture Jam’ Album Set To Drop This Week
Celebrating the unity of basketball and hip-hop.
Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers has announced the upcoming release of the first half of his rap project, Culture Jam Vol. 1.
Out via Virgin Music Label, the debut Culture Jam volume is centered on celebrating the unity of basketball and hip-hop. Through founding and curating the project, Leonard seeks to support young athletes in underserved communities.
“Everything Different,” the first single off of the album, dropped in May from YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Rod Wave. A portion of the proceeds from the song went towards the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation in honor of the legacies of Kobe and Gianna Bryant.
The release was followed by “Waves” with Gunna and Polo G later that summer.
Scheduled to drop this Friday, October 22, the full tracklist for the first part of Culture Jam Vol. 1 comprises seven songs, including “Everything Different” and “Waves” and additional features from Lil Uzi Vert, A Boogie, Ty Dolla $ign, Wale, NLE Choppa and more. Leonard contributed production to the project, alongside its executive producer Eesean Bolden.
To celebrate the release, Leonard will host the inaugural Culture Jam Sports and Music Festival at the Shrine in Los Angeles next month. The event will present educational panels on topics such as financial literacy and mental health, live performances from Cordae and Bluebucksclan and of course, basketball games.
Kawhi Leonard’s Culture Jam Vol. 1: Part 1 is out on streaming services this Friday.
