Virgil Abloh's canary---yellow Encourages Voter Turnout with "Swing State" T-Shirts
Spotlighting Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and other “battleground” states ahead of the US’s 2020 presidential election.

With the United States’ presidential election just over a month away, Virgil Abloh is encouraging voter turnout with “Swing State” T-shirts from his canary—yellow label. Encompassing 13 states in total, the tees present a sticker-style “I Voted” graphic on the front and denote their respective state with a blue fill on the rear’s map of the US.
Save for the highlighting of each respective state, the rest of each shirt’s design is uniform thanks to a black, white and gray map with a neon green “ABLOH” print hanging down from the collar. The 13 states included are Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin — all key “swing states” that Democratic nominee Joe Biden will need to have a strong showing in if he hopes to unseat incumbent Republican President Donald Trump. Of note is California’s somewhat quizzical inclusion — the Sunshine State hasn’t gone to a Republican presidential candidate since 1988, when George Bush Sr. captured it over Michael Dukakis.
From a material standpoint, each made-in-Mexico tee is constructed of 50% upcycled cotton and 50% recycled polyester. This build is constructed from roughly five plastic bottles and .26 pounds of fabric scraps, saving 63 gallons of water in total. There’s a charitable aspect at play as well, with 100% of the proceeds from each tee donated to Abloh’s Post-Modern Scholarship Fund, a platform to aid Black students in their creative careers.
All thirteen tees are available for pre-order now on the canary—yellow webstore and will ship in 4-5 weeks. The MSRP is set at $55 USD.
