Unbox Therapy Takes Boston Dynamics' $75K USD "Spot" Robot for a Walk
Comparing it to playing a video game.
Unbox Therapy has just unboxed one of its most interesting gadgets to date. Its newest video sheds light on the $75,000 USD Boston Dynamics Spot robot.
The impressive 20-minute video is just as captivating as it is eerie, as it shows just how far along Boston Dynamics has taken its quadruped creation. Arriving in a large protective case, the video starts off by demonstrating Spot’s boot-up process where it lifts a single leg to then flip itself off from its back. Controlling Spot with the Nintendo Switch-esque looking, touchscreen controller, the Spot’s capabilities are fully shown as it effortlessly goes up and down stairs, through different types of terrain — all while avoiding obstacles.
Unbox Therapy ends the video with a humbling afterthought, speaking on the many foreseeable applications for Spot. Comparing it to the leaps-and-bounds the smartphone has gone through in the last 10 years, we are left with a chilling thought of a more advanced bipedal version.
