With Summer in full swing and public parks opening back up just in time for the warm weather, GOAT is celebrating Go Skate Day 2020 with a list of some of the most wanted Nike SBs. Go Skateboarding Day, an annual holiday started in NYC to promote skate culture, was created by skater Kerel “SriKala” Roach and founder of the independent website, Metrospective, Bryan Chin back in 2002. 18 years later and retailers, sponsors, parks and individuals around the world now take part in hosting events to showcase the rebellious and creative community that skateboarding breeds. GOAT is joining in on the celebration, delivering its own Skate Collection of top SBs — both new and the classic — which are available now on GOAT’s app.
There were whisperings that Travis Scott — the rapper that some give credit to for the resurgence of the Nike SB Dunk Low — might be receiving his own Dunk shoe. Those rumors indeed proved true and the shoe arrived earlier this year with a patchwork-style upper and plaid print overlays, accented by a “Cactus Jack” embossed design along the rear. The silhouette takes on multiple distinctive design elements, with a series of Travis-related references along the shoe combined with decorative touches like frizzy rope-like laces, a grey sockliner and black and pink midfoot swooshes. Additionally, it carries Cactus Jack tags on the puffed up tongues, paisley print Nike SB insoles and “NIKE” embroidered at the heels. Rounding out the design is a contrasting stitch tan midsole with a khaki-color rubber outsole, perfect for dusting up at the skate park.
The StrangeLove Skateboards x SB Dunk are a flex, dressed with pink suede overlays and red velvet. The upper is a white crushed velvet base that is accented by red midfoot swooshes of the same material, matching color tongue tags, “Nike” embroidery at the rear and special Zoom Air cushioning printed insoles. Cliver’s heart-meets-mind “Heart Skull” logo appears on the heel. Completing the offering is a red crushed velvet interior lining, red rope laces and a pure white midsole paired with a translucent pink outsole with red and blue hearts scattered under the forefoot and heel.
The Nike x Supreme Dunk Low “Varsity Red” builds upon Nike and Supreme’s longstanding history of collaborations. This time around it was a triple release pack that came about in early September. Jeweled swooshes embellished on the sides paired with a translucent rubber tread upon the outsole complement the white and red color blocking. This shoe carries a clean white full-grain leather with the “Varsity Red” synthetic toe box and, true to the sneaker’s origins, embroidered co-branding to round out the sneaker.
Dutch artist Parra linked up with Nike back in July of 2019 to bring to life a special collaboration of the iconic Dunk Low OG SB QS. Utilizing parts of the visual artist’s whimsical style with multicolored chenille swooshes and a graphic sockliner, Parra breathes colorful life into this Dunk Low. A leather upper, patterned tongue label and alternating co-branding embroidery give way to a sleek, fun Dunk.
Pro skater Eric Koston and Nike Skateboarding joined forces to drop the Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 in the same color as Michael Jordan’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina. The “Powder Blue” sneaker meshes the Tar Heel’s basketball legacy with Nike SB’s skate sensibility. The leather constructed upper complements the blue swoosh, while white Jordan brand detailing and Koston’s signature on the inner tongue tab round out the shoe. It’s the epitome of skate and basketball culture colliding into a sneaker at just the right speed.
The iconic Air Jordan 1 silhouette was a skate staple in the 80s due to its full-leather construction and tough midsole/outsole combination. Working together again with Nike SB, the Air Jordan 1 returns in this “Lakers vs. Bulls” edition that launched in May 2019. This colorway pays homage to the legendary matchup through a “Court Purple” and “University Gold” scheme on the leather upper that wears away to reveal red and black alternate hues. Lateral swooshes, a Wings logo and nylon tongue fall in line with the original look.
Nike and Swedish skate brand Polar Skate Co. join forces for a limited-edition makeover of the Blazer Low SB QS. Launched in June 2019, this “Summit White Deep Royal” version is an expression of the label’s simple aesthetic in suede with contrasting leather swooshes and cutout stars at the midfoot. The collaborative design is endorsed by heel embroidery and co-branding on the vintage foam tongue. A vulcanized midsole and herringbone gum outsole round out the look while a Zoom Air embedded sockliner offers impact cushioning.
