2021 Lexus IS Gets a Sporty-Yet-Functional Redesign
Introducing the Japanese marque’s Lexus Driving Signature.
Lexus has unveiled the 2021 IS compact luxury sedan and the Japanese marque is flaunting the vehicle as the first model to utilize the Lexus Driving Signature. The Lexus Driving Signature was initially created to focus on manufacturing a new line of vehicles built around a balance between ride comfort and performance. This means that the auto manufacturer has increased body rigidity and refined the suspension on the new IS, increasing vehicle responsiveness and control while allowing for greater ride comfort.
The 2021 IS 300 will come in two versions — buyers can opt for either a rear-wheel drive IS 300 featuring a 2.0L turbocharged and intercooled inline four-cylinder four-cylinder or an all-wheel drive IS 300 featuring a 3.5L V6. The first of the options produces 241 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, with the latter V6 option producing 260 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The more performance-aligned IS 350 also comes in either RWD or AWD, but will come standard with a 3.5L V6 that produces 311 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.
On the inside, new features include a large 10.3” touchscreen controller as well as CarPlay, Android Auto, and Alexa compatibility. The company has also enhanced its Lexus Safety System+ package, bolstering its Pre-Collision System, Front Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pedestrian and Bicyclist Detection, Lane Departure Alert, and Intelligent High Beams.
