The first teaser trailer of HBO‘s Lovecraft Country is here. Helmed by Misha Green and executive produced by Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams, the forthcoming series is based on Matt Ruff’s dark fantasy horror novel of the same name that focuses on the convergence of H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos work and America during the Jim Crow era:

Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Freeman as he meets up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.”

The series stars Jonathan Majors as Atticus Freeman, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Letitia, Courtney B. Vance as Uncle George and Michael Kenneth Williams as Atticus’ missing father.

Watch the teaser trailer above. Lovecraft Country premieres Summer 2020 exclusively on HBO.
