Black Hippy Reunites in SiR's 'King of the Hill'-Style Visual for "John Redcorn"
Following TDE Fan Appreciation Week.
After delivering a new Boogie-featuring track titled “Rapper Weed” for TDE Fan Appreciation Week, Top Dawg Entertainment signee SiR has now delivered a new music video for “John Redcorn,” a highlight from last year’s Chasing Summer project.
The song, produced by Kal Banx and Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman, takes on the fictional King of the Hill character John Redcorn. In the show, Redcorn’s lover Nancy decides to end their 14-year affair, wherein she recommits to her marriage despite her unhappy home life and love for John. In an interview with DJBooth, SiR revealed that the song “fits a lot of situations I’ve been in where I put my heart out there, and it wasn’t reciprocated.”
In a new animated visual directed by Daniel Russell and Dominic Polcino, SiR’s comparison with John Redcorn comes full circle, with him transplanting himself in a pseudo King of the Hill episode, where his tumultuous relationship with a news reporter is showcased. The video also sees Black Hippy reuniting, with the quartet taking on some hilarious animated personas in place of the show’s Hank, Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer.
