HYKE and adidas Reunite for Sleek SS20 Collaboration (UPDATE)
Trim womenswear and laceless UltraBOOST sneakers.
UPDATE (May 20, 2020): After debuting in February, HYKE and adidas’s Summer 2020 collection is now set for a full release. Originally slated to drop in April, the offerings include three buckle-equipped iterations of the popular UltraBOOST as well as two AH 001 silhouettes — a shoe inspired by the adidas Haillet, a predecessor to the iconic Stan Smith. A full range of apparel is present as well, ranging from pullovers to layered dresses and slim leggings.
The unisex footwear and women’s apparel is set to pre-launch exclusively at adidas Japan on May 27 and will then hit the adidas webstore globally on June 13. See the original story below for more info on the collaborative products.
ORIGINAL STORY (February 28, 2020): HYKE and adidas last joined for collaborative goods in 2016, delivering a range of womenswear and bespoke footwear. The duo have now reunited for Spring/Summer 2020, issuing another array of wearables and unique kicks that keep in line with the minimalist Japanese brand’s oeuvre.
Along with speckled pullovers, layered dresses and branded leggings, the capsule includes an array of genderless sneakers. Though the shoes are ostensibly sized for women, they can be worn by anyone that can fit them. The two silhouettes on hand include a laceless UltraBOOST sneaker, which offers similar buckled closure akin to the HYKE Seeulater. Three colorways — black, white and olive — are bolstered by matching speckled hues on the midsole, for extra graphic interest.
Meanwhile, the other footwear silhouette is a sleek sneaker that recalls the Stan Smith and heritage Haillet model. Though HYKE remixed that shoe in 2016, the new model, dubbed the “AOH 001,” is slightly different, stripping the tongue branding and heel paneling for an even simpler shape. HYKE’s preferred snakeskin pattern graces one model, while the other is executed entirely in pristine white leather.
The collaborative range launches April 29 via HYKE’s dedicated page, Japanese adidas website and select Japanese stockists.
Most recently, adidas Originals unleashed two other covetable collaborations with Kasina’s Free Hiker sneakers and Craig Green’s Kamandas.
