Last year, technical footwear brand ROA and LA imprint Brain Dead came together for a pair of graphic-heavy Oblique sneakers. The two labels have returned once again for another project, this time putting a bold spin on the Neal and Andreas silhuoettes, while showcasing an expansive lineup of footwear from ROA’s mainline in a breezy SS20 lookbook.
Taken to green hillsides and mountainous terrains, a bevy of colorful styles from the ROA’s collection has been highlighted with a set of visuals, featuring silhouettes that range from low to high-cut molds, like the Andreas boot and Oblique shoes.
Leading the range is the Neal in “Royal/Purple.” It comes with a stretchy violet-toned sockliner that peers slightly out from the collars, complementing the dark blue woven uppers. At the rear quarter, Brain Dead’s logo is stitched over a granular panel lined with aramid fabric (a shock-resistant fiber used in bulletproof vests). Finishing off the design, the sneaker boasts a chunky midsole embellished with a striking camo pattern accentuating the shape of the sole that’s been molded for optimal performance on tough terrains.
Another highlight is a pair of black Lhakpas that sees a vivid two-tone color scheme: black on top and neon at the bottom. The shoes have been constructed with a mix of leather and nylon uppers, contrasted by dipped, semi-translucent rubber overlays. Other features like crisp white ripstop pull tabs at the tongue and heel as well as the Vibram technology at the outsole complete the details of the shoe.
