STEIN SS21 Is Couched in Louche Fluidity
Genderless street-friendly items mesh with elegant tailoring.
One of Japan’s must-know young labels, STEIN quickly garnered a devoted domestic following for its covetably understated collections, a rich mélange of street-savvy layering pieces and sophisticated suiting. Spring/Summer 2021, “-RE-PART” delivers more of the styles that fans have come to know and love, with a few new silhouettes to shake up STEIN’s preferred baggy cut.
The emerging brand’s most popular items, including its massive transforming trench coat and sweaters with elongated sleeves, return in force, complemented by a bevy of boxy graphic T-shirts and high rise trousers; the latter is a clear complement to the many oversized double-breasted blazers. Sophistication provided by generous shirting, ribbed cardigans and cropped collarless jackets is playfully at odds with the gentle distressing that graces pullover sweaters and lengthy henley shirts. Throughout, “-RE-PART” lives up to its name by upcycling various pieces of vintage clothing, seamlessly introducing classic fare into STEIN’s contemporary ethos.
