Kyrie Irving and Sneaker Room Offer a Touching Tribute to Mothers With the Nike Kyrie 6 "Mom" Collection
Three heart-coated Kyrie 6s honor Sneaker Room founder Suraj Kaufman and Kyrie Irving’s late mothers.
Kyrie Irving, Jersey City-based sneaker store Sneaker Room and Nike Basketball are raising funds for the battle against breast cancer with a Kyrie 6 “Mom” collection. Dressed in hearts and full of loving messages, the collection is centered around a deeply personal story: both Irving and Sneaker Room founder Suraj Kaufman lost their mothers to the disease.
Arriving in red, black and cream, each pair features embroidered hearts around its collar — white on the red pair, red on the black pair and gold on the cream pair — while also boasting a heart with wings and a halo on the lateral side of the midfoot strap. “Elizabeth” (Irving’s mother’s name) and “Ellen” (Kaufman’s mother’s name) are inscribed above the toebox on the left and right foot, respectively. Polka dots — a pattern Irving’s mother loved — are printed on the tongue liner and insoles as well. For a personal touch, the inner half of each forefoot strap is adorned with “In honor of _____,” enabling the wearer to show their love for their own mother.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Irving and Sneaker Room have joined forces for a charitable effort. The two have been working together since 2017’s Kyrie 3 “Mom,” and Sneaker Room has also teamed with Nike for charity-focused iterations of the React Element 8s, Air More Money and Air Trainer Cruz in years past.
Each colorway of the Sneaker Room x Nike Kyrie 6 “Mom” is highly exclusive, with the red produced in a run of 2006 pairs, the black 813 pairs and the cream a scant 302 pairs. Each will be available via Sneaker Room come October 23, and prices are set at $200 USD for the red, $300 USD for the black and $400 USD for the white, with 100% of proceeds going to charity.
