Kanye West Freestyles Gospel-Tinged Bars at NYC Sunday Service
Hours before his ‘Jesus Is King’ experience at the city’s United Palace.
Earlier this morning, Kanye West took his popular Sunday Service to Jamaica, Queens, gracing the community of The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York with an entourage of live musicians. Performing alongside a backing choir and in front of the cathedral’s congregation, a very hyped-up ‘Ye broke out into a freestyle.
As fans wait for Jesus Is King, the new freestyle (viewable below) rides the heels of the announcement that West is purportedly done making secular music after his ninth studio album, giving it up for gospel instead. Within the freestyle, you can see the church’s lively audience vibing alongside West, with TMZ reporting that he shouted out to Swizz Beatz, Alexander Wang, Akon, and Kim Kardashian–all of which were supposedly apart of the audience.
With Kanye’s newfound emphasis on the black church community over the past several months, it wouldn’t come as a surprise that the artist continues with his Sunday Service worship service into the foreseeable future. Kanye is currently showcasing his Jesus Is King experience at New York’s United Palace, so expect his ninth studio project to release shortly.
For more on Kanye, he recently announced an IMAX documentary about Jesus Is King.
