Sacha Baron Cohen Takes a Dramatic Turn in Netflix’s Espionage Series 'The Spy'
Playing a legendary Mossad agent.
Known for his comedic roles as Borat, Bruno and Ali G, English actor Sacha Baron Cohen is taking a dramatic turn to star in Netflix‘s upcoming original, The Spy.
The limited series is inspired by the “real-life story of former notorious Mossad agent, Eli Cohen, who successfully goes undercover in Syria and ultimately changed the course of Israel’s history.” Set in the 1960s, The Spy will star Cohen as Eli Cohen along with Noah Emmerich (The Americans) as Eli’s Mossad handler, Hadar Ratzon Rotem (Homeland) as Eli’s wife, Nadia, and Waleed Zuaiter (Colony) as a military officer who thinks he’s found the perfect ally in the undercover Eli.
It will be interesting to see Cohen ditching his outlandish comedy skills to showcase his dramatic chops for this serious-minded drama. All six-episodes of The Spy land on Netflix September 6.
