SEGA Announces 'Yakuza 7' and Showcases a New Protagonist
Also introducing a new turn-based gameplay style.
SEGA has announced Yakuza 7 as its next installment in the ongoing series following this year’s recent debut of its spin-off Judgement. The new game will introduce a new protagonist named Ichiban Kasuga as well as a new turn-based RPG combat mechanic.
According to translations from Japanese gaming site Gematsu, the game will utilize a new “live command RPG battle” system and add party members who use different techniques to aid and attack players. Yakuza 7 will also take players out of its usual Kamurocho setting and take them to Yokohama, which will be three times the size of the previous game’s location. As such, players will meet new characters, experience new activities, and explore new areas.
Check out the Japanese trailer above and grab Yakuza 7 when it releases January 6, and later in 2020 for America.
In other gaming news, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is headed to PC and Nintendo Switch.
So, remember how on April Fools Day this year Sega put out some fake totally not real Yakuza JRPG combat gameplay, and we were all arguing about if it was too elaborate to be a fake etc? … https://t.co/yh6G2416Kb
