Daily Paper FW19 Reworks Tailoring Staples With Afrofuturism
Featuring double-breasted suits, snakeskin trench coats & iridescent outerwear.
Amsterdam-based label Daily Paper is celebrating its heritage and pursuing innovation in its Fall/Winter 2019 collection and campaign, which draws upon the aesthetic of Afrofuturism.
Afrofuturism explores the developing intersection of African culture with technology, and so Daily Paper references this via “investigating and eliminating the notion of borders” in a collection which “deftly blends the past, the future, technology and liberation.”
By combining traditional suiting with forward-thinking aesthetical approaches, such as using unconventional fabrics and design details, Daily Paper has released a FW19 collection of elevated staples that further develops its eclectic identity. Standout pieces from the collection include a relaxed two-piece suit, which features a tonal incorporated belt into the trouser design and tonal buttons on the blazer. Other bold pieces such as a green snakeskin belted trench coat with matching trousers, a tie-dye workwear-inspired two-piece with 3M detailing and a double-breasted checkered grey suit featuring Daily Paper taping continue the label’s retro-futuristic aesthetic.
