adidas's NMD_R1 Updated With a Lustrous Set of Gold EVA Plugs
A lavish take on the lightweight runner.
adidas continues to rework its NMD_R1 silhouette, following up the previous racing-themed iteration with a new colorway that comes with shiny gold EVA plugs.
Dubbed “Cloud White/Gold Metallic,” crisp white Primeknit uppers are paired with black accents. Apart from the large piece at the midsole, subtle hits of gold appear at the top of the tongue, in the form of adidas’ trefoil branding; at the heel tab, marked with the slogan “The Brand With the Three Stripes” and at the frontmost EVA plug, with additional “adidas” branding. Most of the other details like the laces, throat and piping at the collars are kept tonal, while three black stripes grace the sidewalls. Finally, the defining feature of this model is its rear EVA plug that’s been treated in gold, set amidst a clean white BOOST sole unit. As a finishing note, the medial sides come with a tonal plug to round out the bright accents.
