After last month’s preview of the 1994 McLaren F1 “LM-Specification”, set to be auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s at Monterey Car Week, the extremely rare vehicle sold for $19,805,000 million USD as of yesterday.
The car is one of only two of this model ever modified (serial no. 018) after McLaren upgraded the F1 to have an unrestricted 680-horsepower GTR spec. Other details of the ride include an extra-high downforce kit, a wide rear wing and an extensive, documented history dating back to 2007 that’s been written and evaluated by McLaren Special Operations. Additionally, the F1 LM-Specification has notched less than 21,500 km (13,352 miles) over the course of its life.
While the final price tag fell just slightly under the estimated $21,000,000 to $23,000,000 million USD range set by Sotheby’s, it still set a new world record for any McLaren marque at auction.
Elsewhere in auction news, a 1974 BMW 3.5 CSL IMSA endurance racer is also up for sale.
