This Tuesday morning, Chicago police arrested seven people after the city’s iconic “Bean” sculpture was found vandalized with multiple graffiti tags. The words “35th Crew” alongside other scrawlings were spray-painted on the piece’s stainless steel exterior. The suspects have not yet been charged with the police investigation still ongoing.
Seminal artist Anish Kapoor created the 110-ton outdoor artwork — officially called Cloud Gate — that was installed at Millennium Park in 2005.
Stay tuned for details on the incident. In other sculptural works, Barcelona-based artist Jaume Plensa unveiled giant cast-iron sculptures in Valencia, Spain.
