'Game of Thrones' Leads 71st Emmy Awards Nominations With 32 Nods

The Television Academy announced its nominees for the 71st Annual Emmy Awards today, and HBO hit Game of Thrones leads with a record-breaking 32 nominations. Other popular titles that racked up several nominations include HBO’s Chernobyl with 19, NBC’s Saturday Night Live with 18, and Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us with 16, which earned Netflix the most nods for the upcoming awards show.
Beyoncé’s own Netflix special, Homecoming, landed six nominations, including Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Music Direction. Meanwhile, When They See Us actor Jharrel Jerome earned his first nomination for his portrayal of Korey Wise in the limited series. On the flipside, longtime contender Black-ish received zero nominations for the first time in the program’s five-year history. Its matriarchal lead Tracee Ellis Ross was also left out of this year’s Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy category, which she was previously nominated for four times in a row.
As for networks, HBO led with a total of 137 nominations, while Netflix racked up 117 and NBC landed 58.
