Nike Gives Its Air Tailwind 79 a Misty "Wolf Grey/Antartica" Update
A new colorway for the throwback sneaker.
While Nike unveiled its Air Max 1 Tinker “Sketch,” other retro staples from the Beaverton-based footwear giant have been recently released, including a lightly colored pair of Air Tailwind 79.
Decked with vintage design cues, like its semi-exposed tongue foam, sans serif “NIKE” lettering and ultra-thin outsole, the Air Tailwind 79 hosts all the nostalgia of the late ’70s, updated with modern fabrics. A mix of lush suede and gleaming satin fabrics have been applied to the uppers. The tongue is tinted with a creamy white palette, complete with tonal laces. Grey suede panels appear at the lace cage and lower quarter heel, while a light blue Swoosh covers the sides. Lastly, details like branding at the heel and an ecru-toned midsole top off the throwback silhouette.
