Lucas Price's 'Deflation Painting #7' Joins KAWS & Supreme Skate Decks in Auction
The oil on canvas work depicts a crumpled Supreme pool float.
London-based artist Lucas Price — who honed his style experimenting on the streets with the Burning Candy graffiti crew and now — Bonhams is auctioning off his Deflation Painting #7.
Bonhams previously sold his piece Wet Painting 1 for £10,000 GBP (approx. $12,650 USD) in its 2015 Contemporary Art auction. The artist, who goes by the name “Cyclops,” was accepted into the UK’s prestigious Royal College of Arts MFA painting course without any formal training and has since held exhibitions at galleries including Tate Modern.
Deflation Painting #7 is one of 80 lots being auctioned off in Bonhams’ Modern & Contemporary Art auction in London. The painting will join over 120 Supreme skate decks — which are estimated to sell between $130,000 USD and $190,000 USD — and pieces by Joan Miró, KAWS and Damien Hirst.
Price’s Deflation Painting #7 draws inspiration from the likes of Jeff Koons and depicts a deflated a Supreme “Sink or Swim” pool float. The work is an oil paint piece on canvas and is signed, dated and inscribed by Lucas Price himself. Take a look at the piece in the gallery above and find out more about the auction in Bonhams’ listing before it hits the auction block on June 27.
