Tom Sachs and Nike's Mars Yard Overshoe Is Ready for Blast-Off
Detailed shots of the high-tech footwear.
With Tom Sachs‘ futuristic
Retaining core elements of the ultra-limited Mars Yard 2.0, the Mars Yard Overshoe upgrades the previous silhouette with a host of industrial details. Most notably, the shoe is enclosed in a waterproof Dyneema shroud, complete with adjustable pull tabs at the top for an adjustable fit. Sturdy Fidlock closure keeps the foot in place, while a treaded rubber outsole ensures anti-slip traction.
An original Mars Yard sneaker is hidden inside, complete with padded tongue for ankle support. Both cork or mesh sockliners come with the Overshoe, further denoted by text printed atop each removable insole. All four pieces include different illustrations of knots, elemental composition lists and even the solar system, underlining the scientific edge that informs much of Sachs’ work.
Take a close look at the technical footwear above and prepare for the Mars Yard Overshoe’s re-release on May 9.
Most recently, Sachs released a grey iteration of his Shop Chair.
