Swiss luxury clock maker L’Epée unveiled at this year’s Baselworld its new racing-inspired Time Fast D8 Clock. The 15-inch long table clock is based on vintage race cars, featuring an open clock display, a helmeted clock balance in the driver’s seat, and four rubber wheels filled with foam. Internally, the clock uses an eight-day handwound movement, which is wound by rolling the car backwards as you do a wind-up toy. The time is adjusted by rotating the steering wheel.
The aesthetic of the car/clock is inspired by the sleek curved forms of early post-war racers, featuring a crested front grille and dual exhaust pipes. Aluminum body panels sit comfortably on a chassis constructed of palladium-plated brass, nickel, and stainless steel. The clock comes in six colorways: white with blue stripes, grey, red, green, blue, and blue with white stripes. Only 100 units are made for each colorway, making the Time Fast D8 an extremely rare limited edition.
The L’Epée Time Fast D8 Clock is priced at $30,000 USD, and you can visit the L’Epée site for more information.
