Seminal American artist Joyce Pensato is widely-recognized for her paintings that spotlight a ubiquitous cast of pop culture cartoons such as Homer Simpson, Batman, Donald Duck, and Mickey Mouse. The artist’s painterly spin on these characters consists of rough brushstrokes, dripping paint, and unruly lines to offer a sense of movement. Her works are included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Hammer Museum to name a few.
Pensato will soon display a series of new original works for her first-ever solo presentation in Japan. Taking place inside NANZUKA in Tokyo, the exhibition entitled “The No Pants Fizz Show” will include a total of five paintings on canvas rendered in enamel paint alongside a series of large and small drawings in charcoal and pastels.
View select works from the upcoming show above and then head over to NANZUKA’s website to learn more. “The No Pants Fizz Show” will run through April 20 until May 25.
