The Black Keys Deliver First New Single in Five Years, "Lo/Hi"
The popular blues-rock act has returned.
It’s been five years since The Black Keys released their last studio album, and the group are back with their first single since the Turn Blue rollout. Now, after re-entering the limelight after an extended hiatus, The Black Keys serve up a new single known as “Lo/Hi” via Nonesuch.
“Out on a limb / In the wind of a hurricane / Down at the bar / Like a star in the howlin’ rain,” The Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach sings on “Lo/Hi.”Nobody to love you / Nobody to care / If you got nobody to hug you / No one to answer your prayer / You get low, like a valley / Then high, like a bird in the sky / You get low, cause you’re angry / Low high, high low.”
While there’s no official details or news concerning The Black Keys’ next full-length release and the follow-up to 2014’s Turn Blue, chances are strong that more new music is on the way.
“We didn’t have to stop. We could still be on the road if we wanted to be on the road. We will get back together at some point. We’ve been friends since we were kids,” Auerbach told Philly Voice back in 2018, opening up about The Black Keys’ eventual return. “There’s no reason to stop. We have plenty of music left in us and the cool thing is that I have enough music in me that I can make solo albums as well.”
