'Fortnite' New Update Debuts “Baller” Vehicle, Merges Xbox One and PS4 Matchmaking
Switch and mobile players are also seeing an update as well.
After previously being leaked, the Jurassic World-esque “Baller” vehicle has officially debuted on Fortnite. The hamster-like ball seats a single player and is able to grapple onto objects, making it a versatile way to get around the map.
The new v8.10 update also made cross-play between Xbox One and PlayStation 4 the matchmaking default in the game’s battle royale mode. Although this option was previously an opt-in beta test last fall, the feature must now be accepted in order to play the mode, otherwise, players will be restricted to only Creative and Playgrounds mode.
The Nintendo Switch‘s matchmaking pool has subsequently been switched from the aforementioned titles to now grouping matches with Android and iPhone players. Epic states the move is to provide “an on-average better per-game experience for both Mobile and Switch players.”
The patch also updated a few outfits and introduced new styles, along with free gear from vending machines to round v8.10 up. See the full notes in the tweet below, then check out Kevin Smith explaining Stan Lee’s cameo in Captain Marvel.
