Kevin Durant's Thirty Five Ventures and ESPN Launch New Show 'The Boardroom'
Exploring the business side of the sports industry.
Thirty Five Ventures, co-owned by Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman, have recently collaborated with ESPN to create a new six-episode series called The Boardroom. College basketball commentator and entrepreneur Jay Williams will also host.
The show is set to present a behind-the-scenes look at the business side of the sports industry, focusing on one major topic in each episode. Each episode will feature both KD and Kleiman as the show’s executive producers as they hold discussions with athletes and sports executives such as LeBron James, Steve Nash, Steve Ballmer, PJ Tucker, and more.
The first two episodes are now streaming via ESPN+, with the first episode presenting an in-depth look at the business of sneakers, how to develop a global brand, and create a signature shoe line. The first episode features Kyle Kuzma of the Los Angeles Lakers and NBA sneaker king, P.J. Tucker from the Houston Rockets. The second episode will discuss what owning a sports team entails with LA Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and owner of the Denver Nuggets, Rick Welts. Connor Schell, ESPN Executive Vice President sheds more light on the show:
“The Boardroom seeks to capture the new way in which professional athletes interact with the business of sports, entrepreneurship, the investment community and our culture more widely… Kevin and Rich are part of the group changing the game in that regard, and The Boardroom represents the kind of original programs we’re bringing to ESPN+ as we work with the biggest names in sports to tell new kinds of stories.”
The third episode of The Boardroom will debut on March 15 on ESPN+ and is a show for those looking to understand more about the ins-and-outs of the business side of sports.
