Normani has released the official music video for her single “Waves” featuring 6LACK, which she first debuted on Zane Lowe‘s Beats 1 radio show in November. The visuals, directed by Emil Nava, set the singer and rapper in a galactic scene full of space-inspired references as Normani performs the song along with her original choreography.

When speaking to Lowe previously about the collaboration, Normani told the DJ that 6LACK is “such an important artist, and I’ve been following his journey for a while now, and we’re really big fans of each other.”

“I admire him as an artist, and he’s just … he’s amazing. He’s an amazing lyricist, and I feel like he took the record to a whole other level. I already love the record as is, but he totally exceeded any expectation I even had, which was pretty high, because I admire him as an artist,” she explained.

The ex-Fifth Harmony member — who officially parted ways from the group in 2018 — is ramping up to drop her debut solo album, which is slated to release this year. This March, she’ll join the North American portion of Ariana Grande‘s ‘The Sweetener World Tour.’

6LACK, on the other hand, released his own debut album “FREE 6LACK” in November 2016. The artist’s popularity has exponentially grown since then, as evidenced by his latest LP, “East Atlanta Love Letter,” which debuted at No. 3 on Billboard 200. HypeRadio caught up with the Atlanta rapper this past fall, in which the musician discusses personal growth, fame and his city’s current state of music.

In other music news, Nicki Minaj has dropped out of the BET Experience after the network posted a controversial tweet about the artist in response to Cardi B‘s Best Rap Album win at the Grammys.
