Ryan Reynolds Shares He Abandoned His Daughters to Play Pikachu
According to new “Becoming Pikachu” featurette.
Already having the roles of Deadpool and Green Lantern under his belt, Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds had to go through a lot of hardships to mentally and physically prepare himself to take on the part of the loveable Pokémon Pikachu.
In a new Inside the Actors Studio-esque featurette shared by Reynolds, the actor talks about just how immersive taking on the role of Pikachu was. He then went on to share the methods he used to get into the part, “I lived it. I breathed it. I became the character,” he states in the video. And according to his wife Blake Lively, it really pissed her off. “I was on my way to pick up my daughters from school when I got the role,” Reynolds went on to reveal. “Well, I didn’t show up at school. Because Detective Pikachu, he doesn’t know who those two little girls are. Who are they?”
With Lively making a special appearance in the clip herself, she went on to poke fun at her husband and his role stating, “I mean, he didn’t even change his voice. It just sounds like him.” Check out “Becoming Pikachu” in its entirety above.
Detective Pikachu hits theaters May 10. A new trailer is also slated to hit the Internet on Tuesday.
