Jordan Brand Officially Announces Russell Westbrook's Why Not Zer0.3

Russell Westbrook is one of the NBA‘s most electric stars, so Jordan Brand has presented a physical manifestation of his bold nature both on and off the court with the new Why Not Zer0.3. Offering sharp edges, bold color-blocking and a layered look, the Brodie’s third signature sneaker with the Jumpman is also his most deeply personal yet.
Mixing wild colors, patterns and prints above its mesh base, the Why Not Zer0.3’s detailed upper is accented further by a jagged midsole, a direct nod to the Houston Rockets point guard’s sharp and aggressive play on the court. Even the outsole gets in on the action by way of a translucent window that displays a size tag. The Why Not Zer0.3 is also the first model in Westbrook’s signature line to feature a midfoot strap. Three colorways have been announced so far: the “Zer0 Noise” pictured here, a “The Family” style and a “Heartbeat” makeup.

Each style in this trifecta tells a different part of Russ’s story. The “Zer0 Noise” represents his ability to block out any outside pressures, voices or opinions, and play the game his own way. “The Family” is a direct nod to his most ardent supporters. And last but not least, the “Heartbeat” is a meaningful nod to the twin daughters Westbrook and his wife recently welcomed into the world.
Although the wild look and rich storytelling are what captures most of the initial attention, this is a performance basketball sneaker at its core — one that’s packed chock-full of advanced tech. An internal articulated Zoom Air unit with horizontal flex grooves provides the explosion and response that athletic guards desire, and the midfoot strap is for more than just looks, as it teams with a TPU midfoot shank to guarantee lockdown. Lastly, a modified herringbone traction pattern on the outsole offers heightened grip.

“I don’t take it for granted that I have my own shoe with the Jordan Brand” says Westbrook. “I’m extremely excited about this one. Not only does it have a balance of great technology and style, but it represents more than just me. It represents hope and inspiration and aims to instill belief in the youth.”
The Jordan Why Not Zer0.3 will release on Nike’s webstore in the “Zer0 Noise” colorway come January 2. “The Family” follows on January 9, and “Heartbeat” on February 27. The MSRP is set at $130 USD for men’s pairs, $105 USD for grade school, $75 USD for preschool, and $55 USD for toddlers. Special apparel designed in collaboration with Russ himself will also accompany each release.
