'World of Warcraft: Shadowlands' Removes the Veil Between Life and Death
Blizzard Entertainment revealed the latest expansion in the ‘WoW’ franchise with two trailers.
Yet another big reveal at Blizzcon 2019 as Blizzard Entertainment revealed the latest expansion in the World of Warcraft franchise, dubbed Shadowlands.
As its title implies, this WoW installment opens us up to the realm of the dead, better know as the Shadowlands. In the cinematic trailer above, Sylvanas Windrunner confronts current Lich King Bolvar Fordragon at Icecrown, where they engage in a mountain-wielding battle. In the end, Sylvanas takes Bolvar’s crown, tears it apart, and thus the “veil between life and death is no more.”
Here’s what the game’s official website says of Shadowlands:
With a single act of destruction, Sylvanas Windrunner has ripped open the way to the afterlife. Azeroth’s staunchest defenders have been dragged into all-consuming darkness. An ancient force of death threatens to break its bonds and unravel reality.
Hidden realms of wonder and horror await any who would pass to the other side. The Shadowlands is home to an entire realm of the departed; it is a world between worlds whose delicate balance preserves life and death itself.
As one of Azeroth’s greatest champions, you have been granted the power to cross over in body and soul. Now you must investigate a conspiracy to unmake the cosmos, and help Warcraft legends journey back… or fulfill their ultimate destiny.
Blizzard also delivered a “features overview” trailer, revealing the new world, its gameplay, new fight sequences, the replayable Torghast, Tower of the Damned, and a new leveling experience.
Although release information has yet to be announced, you can preorder World of Warcraft Shadowlands now at worldofwarcraft.com.
