WACKO MARIA is back with a new collaboration with DJ Harvey, the legendary DJ who is also known as “the Keith Richards of the crossfader.” This capsule is a nod to Harvey’s 30th-anniversary tour, which brings the artist back to Japan. The last collaboration between the two was back in 2017 when they made a single Hawaiian shirt. This time around they’re reuniting for a bigger capsule which includes windbreakers, Hawaiian shirts, leather jackets and track pants.
The assemblage is packed with bold color palettes of light blue, purple, pink and black, complemented by a series of wild prints that are synonymous with WACKO MARIA’s design ethos. One noteworthy piece is a leather biker jacket, emblazoned with “DJ Harvey” graphics at the back. Made up of high oz premium leather, the piece features dark brass hardware at the epaulets, lapel collars, central zip, pockets and hem. “ANNIVERSARY TOUR OF JAPAN” appears at the back, framing an image of a skull wearing a samurai’s helmet, while leather cinch laces at the waist finish off the piece.
Another highlight is a windbreaker that comes in blue and purple colorways. It features a print of shadowed buildings behind a set of leaning palm trees. Towards the hemline, “DJ HARVEY” and “DISCOTHEQUE” is etched in an Old English font, contrasted against strips of black and brown panels. Other pieces like the Hawaiian shirts and track pants round up the vibrant collaboration.
The DJ Harvey x WACKO MARIA capsule will be available on November 30 at wackomaria-paradisetokyo.jp as well as Isetan Shinjuku, ranging from $92 – $1,660 USD.
