Reebok Taps nanamica for Understated Sportswear Collab
Plush corduroy tracksuits and low-cut Alien Stompers.
Reebok and Japanese label nanamica have teamed up for a new capsule, elevating Reebok staples with nanamica’s eye for sophisticated sporty garments. Steeped in retro athletic heritage, the assemblage encompasses a concise spread of T-shirts, pants, a jacket and a reconstructed take on the Reebok Club C in two clean colorways, all offered with premium textiles.
Delivered in black and white colorways, the low-cut sneakers retain much of the familiar Club C detailing, aside from the new addition of a protective strap that entirely covers the laces. The design was inspired by Reebok’s iconic “Alien Stomper” from the ’80s, made more wearable due to the inherent versatility of the Club C. Both models come with a smooth navy leather tongue stamped with a tonal brand tag, all executed in premium grain leather. Other details like subtle perforations and suede panels around the toe box maintain the minimalist throwback motif, which is completed with creamy gum soles.
The retro theme also informed the accompanying garments. One noteworthy piece is the Vector Track Jacket made up of soft cotton corduroy, juxtaposing the functional silhouette with an organic textile. Realized mostly in black, the jacket is accented by blue panels around the shoulders, which create the shape of Reebok’s logo when taken at a distance. A raised collar, two zipper pockets at the waist, elastic ribbing at the cuffs and hem is all and small “Reebok” logo embroidery at the left chest is all held over from the original timeless design. Matching corduroy track pants reinforce the comfy aesthetic put forth by the jacket. Rounding out the capsule are two logo tees, boldly emblazoned with “Reebok” and “ナナミカ” (nanamica) branding across the chest.
Expect Reebok and nanamica’s collaborative Fall/Winter 2019 capsule to be available on November 30 at nanamica’s web store and select stockists, with items ranging in price from $45 – $120 USD.
Elsewhere, adidas joined Reebok to finally drop the collaborative Instapump Fury BOOST.
