After confirming that Andy Serkis will play Alfred in The Batman, director Matt Reeves continues to roll out new cast announcements via Twitter. His latest post on Friday revealed that actor John Turturro will be playing mob boss Carmine Falcone. Nicknamed “The Roman,” Falcone first appeared in The Batman: Year One comics in 1987 and takes control of Gotham City through his crime syndicate.

The confirmed roster of talent for the upcoming film already includes Robert Pattinson as the lead, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and Paul Dano as Riddler. Colin Farrell is currently in talks to play the Penguin.

Reeves shared a GIF of Turturro in his memorable role as Jesus Quintana in The Big Lebowski, where he will reprise his character for the spinoff The Jesus Rolls, slated for a 2020 release.

Filming for The Batman is set to start later this year and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.

In related news, Joker director Todd Phillips shut down rumors of a potential sequel for the film, which has recently become the first R-rated movie to cross the $1 billion USD mark at the box office.
