Yuketen Drops Artisinal FW19 Footwear Collection

Every single pair of handcrafted Yuketens that comes out of its Maine-based factories in the US takes around 96 – 120 hours to make. The label is the brainchild of founder Yuki Matsuda, a seasoned designer who has spent a good portion of his life traveling around the US, developing close relationships and learning from various Native American communities and leather artisans. The designs are an amalgam of his distinctive sensibilities filtered through the heritage of traditional moccasins, chukkas, boots and low-cut loafers. Yuketen has revealed its latest Fall/Winter 2019 lineup, showcasing classic silhouettes alongside some new models.
Much like the Maine Guide 6 Eye DB Boots highlighted earlier last week, there are a handful of design features that recur across the expansive range of footwear – like tanned leather laces, layered kilties, serrated collars and articulated midsoles. The fully handsewn Maine Guide Ox presents an elevated take on leather loafers, while the angular Chukka has been made with a more purist form. Other offerings include high ankle boots like the Maine Guide DB Boots, which pack a full-length Vibram Christy midsole, among other lower cut counterparts like fur-trimmed boots. Newer, more visually bold silhouettes are also included in the mix, too, such as the Half Dome 2000 paneled in lush suede color blocking of navy, yellow and red. Other distinctive highlights include the Land Jordan, belted chukkas, country loafers and angular moc, rounding up the assemblage of artisanal footwear.
