EarthGang Debut New Visual for 'Mirrorland' Single "Up"
A highlight of their recent album.
One month after the release of their latest full-length studio album Mirrorland, EarthGang are revisiting the project for a new music video. Specifically, the two acclaimed rappers are serving up a new visual in support of Mirrorland‘s fourth and final single, “Up.” Made up of 14 tracks, EarthGang’s Mirrorland project also featured collaborations with Young Thug, T-Pain, Kehlani, Arin Ray and Malik. “Up” was first introduced to listeners during a 2019 EarthGang performance in London.
“We thought about how, if we’re going to make a project sonically to rival The Wiz, we got to create another world for people to imagine and go to,” EarthGang’s Olu O. Fanne previously told Pitchfork, revealing the primary inspiration behind EarthGang’s recent LP. “You know when Dorothy got swept away and she met the Munchkins? That was such a beautiful thing. You could see Quincy Jones on the piano, just playing away. That’s what “La La Challenge” is about. Right now, that’s the intro to the whole record. It’s really colorful. It’s really dangerous. It’s really trippy. It’s literally Freaknik Atlanta in the summertime—folks riding around in cars with big rims with paint on their faces.”
