An adidas Creator's Club Member Designed the SPEEDFACTORY AM4 "Cryptic Waves"
The speedy silhouette gets a crowd-sourced colorway.
After commemorating Marvel’s 80th anniversary with special styles at NYCC and tapping Foot Locker’s Greenhouse for a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the ultra-light adidas SPEEDFACTORY AM4 runner is back in the spotlight again, thanks to a stark new “Cryptic Waves” makeup.
Crafted by designer and adidas Creator’s Club member Oswaldo Rodriguez, the low-slung silhouette shows its speed by way of a lightweight black mesh base that’s equipped with an abstract wave pattern. Although the print does cover the entire upper, it’s most noticeable on both the lateral and medial midfoot, where it sheds its dark grey hue for white and gold shades.
More detail is provided by tonal three stripe branding and flecked laces. The heel clip offers a globe design on the lateral side and “Left/Right” markers on its medial side, while an NFC chip is embedded in the tongue, enabling the wearer to monitor their movements. Down below, a full-foot white BOOST midsole with a supportive Torsion bar and a Continental rubber outsole complete the look.
Rodriguez’s sleek and stealthy design will release on October 31 via adidas.com. Retail is set at a standard $150 USD.
