Pornhub Experiences Traffic Spike Coinciding With US Government Shutdown
With more than 800,000 federal workers affected by the shutdown.
With the longest Government Shutdown in US history taking place, Pornhub has been noticing some new growth in traffic. Based off data from January 7 – January 11, Pornhub experienced a six percent spike at times that coincided with when federal workers stayed home — leading to a “distinct shift in the hours during which people are watching porn.”
On top of the 6 percent increase, it was noted that late-night traffic has increased 14 percent, and female traffic has increased to 12.3 percent. The US government shutdown is now on its one month mark, leaving more than 800,000 federal employees without pay. While this is still unfortunate news, Pornhub’s data shows just what impact such a wide-spread incident has on something outside of government operations.
