PREMIERE: Bohan Phoenix Relives Past Struggles in New IUNNO Video
“I wanna talk my sh*t because I know my value, but who am I to say? Iunno…”
As part of a series set to release later this year, Bohan Phoenix releases the visuals to the track IUNNO. Teaming up with long-time collaborator and producer Jachary, IUNNO is Bohan Phoenix’s vocal portrayal of his early years on the come up, and how growing up in a Chinese household shaped him into the person he is today. Filmed in Brooklyn, Phoenix tells of the duality that he faces every day as a Chinese rapper chasing his dreams — on one hand, his upbringing tells him to stay humble, but on the other, he’s compelled to have fun and flex.
At the heart of the track is a memory that Phoenix recalls vividly. An experience that left him shortchanged by a prominent US record label; he shortly realized he was worth much more, and the rest is history. Peep the video above, and for those in NYC and Toronto, don’t forget to check him out this weekend at the Modern Sky Festival.
