OvaEast Meech Tackles Survivor's Remorse in "'Runnin’" Video
Recently received a cosign by No I.D.
Chicago has a new artist on the rise. OvaEast Meech — a rapper, producer, and singer from the East Side of Chi-town — was recently co-signed by No I.D. and today (Aug. 17) releases his brand new video for “Runnin’.” The song, along with the video, tackles survivor’s remorse, an issue that hits close to home for Meech. The video is directed by Brian Alan.
“The ‘Runnin’’ video is a visual representation of the song,” he explains to HYPEBEAST. “‘Runnin’’ is a song about survivor’s remorse, and the video shows you why I have it. Man, I got friends and family trying to make it out the hood, trying to dodge trouble, trying to do something with their lives. Sometimes you get an opportunity to get out. Often times you don’t. It’s a vicious cycle.”
OvaEast Meech is working on his upcoming EP, Saints II, while putting in time on his album. With No I.D. behind him, the budding rapper has the support system to be something special. “Dion really lets you grow as an artist,” he adds. “He’s a teacher, and he’s full of gems. Whether it’s life-related, business related, or music related. It’s not just music all the time, but every bit of information helps me grow as an artist and person.”
Last year, Meech released his breakout EP, Truecolours. The future looks bright for the Chicago spitta. Watch the video above.
