Dr. Dre Announces First Album in 15 Years, Explains Why ‘Detox’ Never Came Out

As previously indicated by Ice Cube, Dr. Dre officially announced his third solo album Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre on his Beats 1 radio show The Pharmacy. Joined by Ice Cube and Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray, Dre shared that the LP will be released this coming Friday as an Apple Music exclusive. In addition, he also revealed why Detox never came out because he wasn’t satisfied with it:
“I didn’t like it. It wasn’t good. The record, it just wasn’t good … I worked my ass off on it, and I don’t think I did a good enough job.”
Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre is out August 7 on Apple Music, with pre-orders available here. Straight Outta Compton hits theaters one week later. Check out the tracklist for Compton: The Soundtrack below and listen to the full episode of “The Pharmacy With Dr. Dre” on Apple Music’s Connect.
