A First Look at 2019's BMW Z4 Sports Car
Showcased in the sleek M40i variant.

First revealed via concept imagery last year, BMW‘s sleek Z4 sports car has finally emerged in all its glory. The trim red speedster, shown here in topless M40i form, offers a trim body, long hood, front fender vents and a dramatic windscreen. An integrated spoiler at the rear reinforces the high-speed inclinations, with slender taillights and a shortened trunk further slimming the car’s silhouette.
Under the hood, the M40i packs a new six-cylinder engine, described by BMW as “extremely powerful,” with experts positing that the car will utilize a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six engine. Finally, the driver will have cutting-edge tech at their fingertips when behind the wheel, with the dashboard and center stack sporting an iDrive infotainment system and a retractable panel offering a wireless smartphone charger and USB port.
Stay tuned for the full reveal on August 23, when BMW launches the Z4 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event.
Earlier this summer, BMW debuted its 8 Series Coupe.
